The new test performed by the German motoring publication involved sports summer tires with a 19-inch rim diameter.
This year, the test of SUV summer tires, performed by Auto Bild Allrad, involved ten tire models of various price segments. The test experts chose a rather large tire size — 255/55 R18 — one of those sizes that fit large four-wheel drive vehicles, such as BMW X5, Mercedes GLE, Audi Q7, or VW Touareg.
Last year’s test of commercial tires in the dimension 215/65 R16C, which ADAC performed by the same procedure that it used for testing passenger-car tires, elicited mediocre results from most of the models. This is why this year the publication’s experts decided to conduct a test of summer tires in size 235/55 R17, which can be fitted both on midsize SUVs and light minivans.
