I'm running 16" rims for my winter tires (205/55R-16). Just because the OEM size rim is a 18" doesn't mean that's all you're limited to. Call your local dealership (with your vin ready just in case) and ask them what the smallest rim size listed is.

Mine is a 2015 Veloster turbo, looking at 205/55/16 as well. I guess the year doesn't a difference? If it fits for other veloster model. I guess this setting of 205/55/16 will fit on my 2015 turbo? I called up my dealership, but they were trying to upsale me to larger size. Please help. Thanks

Winter tires on 2015 Hyundai Veloster Turbo; Original setting …

Winter tires on 2015 Hyundai Veloster Turbo; Original setting is 215/40/18. I called the dealership they said the Turbo can only fit a 18" for winter tires because it needs enough clearance. However, their website shows it can go down to at least a 17" wheel and I see some veloster threads says it would fit a 16". My question is it's turbo, maybe the caliper restricted the wheel size to smaller than a 17"? I saw a set of 205/55/16 for sale online. Would it fit my car?

Hi,Joyce,About the wheel size clearance,It depend on the wheel size and tire size.Usually,The smallest whel size is OEM size,if the oem size is 18'',it is better not change wheels that lower than 18''.But for veloster,17'' can also fit for.If you want change to 17'',you can show me your current wheel size,I can help you check it.

I went down in size for my winter tire in my elantra(from a 17). I was just wondering if it was possible to go down two. Some people have written they had 18 stock and had 16 winter tires, is that unsafe, is that why, you say no. Thanks John

These are the tire sizes that will fit, however the rims may need to change and then it will affect your speedometer.
                            Optional Wheel Diameter: 16"
                            205/55-16
                            Optional Wheel Diameter: 17"
                            215/45-17
                            Optional Wheel Diameter: 19"
                            225/35-19
                            Optional Wheel Diameter: 20"
                            225/30-20

rim/wheel size will not affect speedometer.
the overall tire (rubber) diameter is what changes the speedo.

type "tire size comparison" in google and you will find sites that compare sizes and give exact info on speedo changes

I have a 2013 Veloster and my original tyres are 215/40R18.
This tyre size is not available in the local market. The only replacement is either i go for Michelin SuperSport 4 with 215/40R18
Or I move to another tyre size like 225/40R18

                                      What do you guys recommend.

Will moving to 225 have any detrimental effects like running of Tyre Wall in the Body etc
