I want to buy rims (R15) for Kia Venga 2011 1.6. I found some rims. Two of them have center bore 71.60 mm instead of 67.1 mm but good ET48. One have ET46 instead of ET48 but good center bore (67.1 mm). Witch will be better? I guess that this rim with the same center bore but little different ET. This ET difference is ok or I should search other rims to fit ET too? Thanks!
HI,Łukasz,ET 46 and ET 48 is compatible.I suggest that you can use the same center bore wheel. As if center bore size is bigger than stock rims, you have to use center bore ring to adapt it.
Hi John,
Thank you for your answer and your time. I have some additional questions.
1. How is ET compatibility determined? In some places I have read that the allowable difference is 2%. 48-2% is 47.04, so still more than 46.
2. In winter, it is better to use steel or aluminum rims and why? I have read in several places that, contrary to popular opinion, aluminum rims may be even better, more durable for winter.
3. Is it better to use smaller or larger rims in winter and why?
Thank you in advance
4. ET is not different for steel and aluminum rims, right? Kia Venga had R15 steel rims (R16 and R17 were optional, aluminum). I am considering to buy aluminum rims for winter but I am not sure yet.
Hi,Łukasz,For No.1,The allowable difference for ET(offset) is +-5mm.No.2,for my option,I suggest that you can use alloy wheel, but if you can also use tire chains in winter.
