Hi, just contemplating the same thing. Have sourced a set of 16" wheels that started life on a volvo but have the same 5 x 108 pattern. Is there anything else I should consider before fitting them? Are there any codes that I can check to ensure correct clearances on the calipers for example or is it a question of trying they for size. Trying to get out a hole as am a long way from home and have a broken wheel. A repair has been attempted but failed and while I have been unable to find a replacement 18" I have been offered a set of 16" wheels and tyres which look good and as Richard says ought to improve the harsh ride on the car anyway. Thanks in advance.

wrong they can be repaired, you just have to find a shop that can do it .i damaged 2 of mine 18" alloys bcuz of a deep pot hole , they got bent up pretty bad. and it only cost $50 each rim to get them repaired in a couple of days time. when got them back you couldn't tell where they were damaged.

Have just bought a x-trpe 2.2d Sport and it has the 18 inch alloys and 225/40R18/092/Y tyre combo. What would give me a better ride but still maintain good performance as I am finding my Jag is crashing over some rough road services and potholes?

hi, I'm trading in my 2.0 D my se xtype for a 2.2D sport premium xtype, the old one has the factory 17" alloys and the new one has 18" factory alloys, the larger alloy looks like it has lower profile tyres on, could I ask the garage to put my old wheels on the new car as I would prefer a softer ride?

Hi,Keith,if you put on 18'' wheels,it should be 18'' tires and also to 17'' wheels. So,if you want softer ride. You need to put back 17'' wheels and 17'' tires.

hi, thanks for getting back, I know the tires have to match the alloy, I wondered if I could put the 17" alloys form my old car into the new one as the bolt holes match, it's more a question of speedo and odometer reading correctly as I think the outside circumference would be very similar due to the profiles in the tyres on17" or 18" alloys.
                  regards

Hi,Keith,if you want put your 17'' alloys wheels with tires in your new car.it is ok.For the speedo and odometer,The changing will change it's data,But very small. If you change into big wheels and tires, the data will become little smaller than before. On the contrary,It will become little bigger.

I recently acquired a 2007 Jaguar X-Type, fully optioned, including 18" Aruba sport wheels. Like Richard, I find them too hard riding, especially on DC streets, and plan to downsize to the 17". I could go for some remanufactured Jaguar OEM wheels, but might consider a quality after-market alternative if it'll fit, look and perform right. Any recommendations? The Coventry wheels look nice, but don't care for that mirror lip, and they're 8" wide, whereas the originals are 7", so some concern about clearance.

Hi,Raymond,i think you can try some new aftermarket wheels if you can afford.Just need to pay attention to the Specification.for the width,8'' is ok.But you need to change tires.

Contrary to the chart, the standard wheel size for the 2007 Jaguar X-Type, at least in the US, is 225/45R17, not 225/40R18 as listed. As noted in an earlier posting, mine included the 18" Aruba wheel upgrade, but I'm looking to move down to the Andros/Belize or Bermuda wheels.
