can I upgrade from 16 to 17 inches safely
Jag X-Type 3.0 AWD- currently running with Pirelli/ Firestone 225/40 R18's- now looking for comfort rather than performance- what is minimum size wheel (16"?), and best tyre for bump absorption?
Hi,Richard Sumner,The minimum size for your car is 16*7.0 and the best tire size is 205/55/r16
Hi, just contemplating the same thing. Have sourced a set of 16" wheels that started life on a volvo but have the same 5 x 108 pattern. Is there anything else I should consider before fitting them? Are there any codes that I can check to ensure correct clearances on the calipers for example or is it a question of trying they for size. Trying to get out a hole as am a long way from home and have a broken wheel. A repair has been attempted but failed and while I have been unable to find a replacement 18" I have been offered a set of 16" wheels and tyres which look good and as Richard says ought to improve the harsh ride on the car anyway. Thanks in advance.
The RIM is bent and cracked after hitting a pot hole. Can it be repaired ?Looks like Aluminum Alloy....16inand cost $$$ ???Thanks
Hi.It can not repaired, if it is alloy wheels.Try to change a new set in safe condition.
wrong they can be repaired, you just have to find a shop that can do it .i damaged 2 of mine 18" alloys bcuz of a deep pot hole , they got bent up pretty bad. and it only cost $50 each rim to get them repaired in a couple of days time. when got them back you couldn't tell where they were damaged.
Have just bought a x-trpe 2.2d Sport and it has the 18 inch alloys and 225/40R18/092/Y tyre combo. What would give me a better ride but still maintain good performance as I am finding my Jag is crashing over some rough road services and potholes?
Hi,Nick Soar,The tire is ok,And For your wheel question,I think the wheel width is little large. Can you show me your current wheel size?
hi guys i am going to change my like new 16" for 18" rims do i have to change the nuts as well
Hi,15jagman,It depend on the size of your studs,I suggest you can inquiry for the car wheels dealer.Normally,They will give you a accurate size.
Hi, i am selling some alloys to someone with a jaguar x type sport 04 plate, will these fit?
Size : 18 inch by 9Pcd size : 5x108Cb : 73.1 Et : 45
The tyre size is 225/45/18
Hi,Jamie, your wheels can fit for.But for the tires,The tolerance is little big.
hi, I'm trading in my 2.0 D my se xtype for a 2.2D sport premium xtype, the old one has the factory 17" alloys and the new one has 18" factory alloys, the larger alloy looks like it has lower profile tyres on, could I ask the garage to put my old wheels on the new car as I would prefer a softer ride?RegardsKeith
Hi,Keith,if you put on 18'' wheels,it should be 18'' tires and also to 17'' wheels. So,if you want softer ride. You need to put back 17'' wheels and 17'' tires.
hi, thanks for getting back, I know the tires have to match the alloy, I wondered if I could put the 17" alloys form my old car into the new one as the bolt holes match, it's more a question of speedo and odometer reading correctly as I think the outside circumference would be very similar due to the profiles in the tyres on17" or 18" alloys.regards Keith
Hi,Keith,if you want put your 17'' alloys wheels with tires in your new car.it is ok.For the speedo and odometer,The changing will change it's data,But very small. If you change into big wheels and tires, the data will become little smaller than before. On the contrary,It will become little bigger.
Hi John, Thanks for the reply, I can now make a decision on whether to exchange or leave alone.I much appreciate your response.Kind Regards Keith
I recently acquired a 2007 Jaguar X-Type, fully optioned, including 18" Aruba sport wheels. Like Richard, I find them too hard riding, especially on DC streets, and plan to downsize to the 17". I could go for some remanufactured Jaguar OEM wheels, but might consider a quality after-market alternative if it'll fit, look and perform right. Any recommendations? The Coventry wheels look nice, but don't care for that mirror lip, and they're 8" wide, whereas the originals are 7", so some concern about clearance.
Hi,Raymond,i think you can try some new aftermarket wheels if you can afford.Just need to pay attention to the Specification.for the width,8'' is ok.But you need to change tires.
Contrary to the chart, the standard wheel size for the 2007 Jaguar X-Type, at least in the US, is 225/45R17, not 225/40R18 as listed. As noted in an earlier posting, mine included the 18" Aruba wheel upgrade, but I'm looking to move down to the Andros/Belize or Bermuda wheels.
got 225/40zr18 on x type 2.2 sovereign will 225/55r16 fit as i want a softer quieter ride.thanks dave
Hi,I have a 2002 xjr100,limited edition, damaged one front tyre and montreal wheel ,jaguar are not manufacturing the montreal any more, tried the coventry wheels ,that is not the correct bolt pattern ,5x120.65.so they shake at 80 kl.and us be shattering my track rod ends, but can not find any manufacturer, who do a correct replacement, so stuck with a great car and no wheels , thank you .Ray
Hi I have a 2005 x type 3.0 awd & want to upgrade the factory 17" alloys to 19" with 255/30/19" tyres has anyone done this ?Thanks Mark
Hi,Mark,Can you show your 17'' and 19'' tires and wheels size?I can help you confirm whether they are compatible.
Hi John, Thank you for your quick reply to my question regarding wheel sizes for my Jaguar x type 3.0 awdthe original wheels are 7j x 17 ET 52.5 & the after market wheels I am looking at are 8.5j x 19 ET 42,Please can you advise if these are compatible to fit with a 255x30x19" tyre comboRegardsMark
Hi,Mark,For tires, you still need to show your 17'' tire size,In that way,i can help you confirm it.
Hi John, sorry I thought I had put the original tyre size on my message, the original tyre size on the car is, 225x45x17"RegardsMark
Hi,Mark,These two tires are compatible. But I think your 19'' wheels offset is too smaller. It may scrub you brakes.
Hi there, currently on my 2.5 V6 AWD Jaguar X Type I am running 18x7.5, ET52.5, OE wheels with 225/40 Goodyear Eagle F1 tyres. I'm updating my wheels so the question is will 18x8 ET42 wheels fit with the same tyres as above as the arch liners look quite close on full steering lock?
i am currently using 225/45 R17 on a 2001 X-type 3.0 petrol jaguar. Is that the correct size of wheels? if it isnt then how is it affecting perfomance
Hi,salano,225/45/17 is the correct size of wheels.
I have a 2002 x type with 205 55 16 was offered a set of 19s off a 2013 CD they have the positive offset but they are 9 inches wide too wide?
Hi,Gordon,For 2002 x type, you can use 19*9 rims because the x type 3.0i have 19*8.5 stock rims,For the offset, you should make sure it is compatible with your current rims.
I looked they are both high positive offset
What size tire would cross to a 205 55 16 245 30 19?
Hi,Gordon,The stock 19'' tire size for your car is 225/35/19 or 255/30/19
...not sure on what’s the best / biggest / widest / maximum tires or rims will fit your car?
Write about the tires you are currently driving on.
